Uses / Indications: Silodal 4mg Capsule is used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Interactions / Warnings:
Taking Silodosin with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience a headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy interaction: Silodal 4mg Capsule is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Expert advice: Silodal helps in relieving the symptoms of enlarged prostate. It doesn't decrease the size of the prostate. Silodal must be taken with food. You will feel better within hours or days of starting treatment. Full effect is usually seen within 2 weeks. Silodal may cause you to feel dizzy, faint, lightheaded, or weak, especially when you stand up (orthostatic hypotension). Take special precaution if you have to drive, use machines or do any activity that needs alertness. If your undergoing eye surgery due to cataract or glaucoma, inform your eye doctor about the usage of Silodal. Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney or liver problems.

How to use: Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Silodal 4mg Capsule is to be taken with food.Avoid Silodal 4mg Capsule with high-fat meals such as olive oil, nuts & seeds (Brazil nuts), dark chocolate, butter and meat.
How it works: Silodal 4mg Capsule is an alpha blocker. It works by relaxing muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland so urine is passed more easily.
Faq for medicine: Apart from taking medicines : Simple lifestyle changes can help you manage your prostate symptoms better. Try to urinate when you first get the urge. However, take care not to strain or push to empty your bladder. Avoid drinking fluids (especially alcohol, caffeine) a few hours before bedtime or going out. You should also avoid medicines that can worsen urinary symptoms. These include some over the counter medicines for cold and cough.|Does silodosin contain sulfa? : No, it does not contain sulfa|What is silodosin used for? : Silodosin is used for the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy, which is a non-cancerous enlargement of prostate causing symptoms during urination like hesitancy, incomplete emptying, weak stream, increased urgency and frequency, and increased urination in the night|How does silodosin work? : It blocks the alpha-1 receptors located in the muscles of human prostate, urinary bladder and urethra and relaxes It works by relieving symptoms associated with benign prostatic hypertrophy by relaxing these muscles of prostate and bladder, resulting in an improvement in urine flow and a reduction in BPH symptoms.|Is Silodal better than Tamsulosin? : Silodal and Tamsulosin belong to the same class of drugs and are equally good in relieving the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. However, Tamsulosin commonly causes postural hypotension and dose reduction is not needed in renal disease patients whereas Silodal more commonly causes retrograde ejaculation and its dose may need to be decreased in patients with renal disease.
